I loved this so much. One of my “subway takes” is that adults don’t exist unless there is a child around. This is an even better take.

Also I needed this: “When you see the humanity in your heroes, you begin to see your heroes in the mirror.” Ready to take on the world now, thank you!

I am thinking that if I can teach my children this valuable lesson to not assume someones authority is same as expertise, I have done them a great favor.

"I am always doing what I cannot do yet, in order to learn how to do it” - love that.

So far I find that the (physically) dead are safe objects of hero worship, but I hope discover that some among the (physically) living are better than what I have encountered first-hand.

Admirable, inspiring, but unconvincing. Time again it’s proven that geniuses are not the hallmark or the guide post for adulthood or responsibility. It’s partially in the definition of genius, both socially, and the Greek root of genius as a sort of inspirational spirit that visits us. Leaning into the grandparents, experience of unknowing may be more useful direction ultimately. The concept of grandparents could be worth pursuing and dissecting across cultures and time, space, etc. For investigation for this topic. 🪻🌷🙏🏽💙

Just fantastic. Most of the stories were unknown to me as well. Just amazing.
